Like any new mother, Jess Carpenter was used to reading picture books to her kids. As she read, she realized something: she wanted to write her own books. She got to work with her first two novels and later published two children's books based on her two young children. Now that she has a third baby, she’s hard at work on the next book.

In this episode, Jess shares what it’s like to be an author. She walks us through her writing process, marketing strategies, and the way she balances her writing with other jobs. In addition to being an author, Jess is a full-time mom to three young kids, an advertising and marketing freelancer, and a content creator. Jess has more than twenty thousand followers on both TikTok and Instagram, where she posts about her kids, books, and life as a mother. Regardless of what she’s working on at the moment, Jess knows how to juggle a lot at once!

If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to publish your own book, tune in to hear Jess’s advice and strategies.

As mentioned in the episode, Jess is currently donating all proceeds from the sales of her children's books to the books' illustrator, Kateryna  Mansarliiska, who lives in Ukraine.
