Hi, I'm Elizabeth Pearson Garr, and this is the What It's Like To podcast. This week, we're doing things a little bit differently because it's the middle of the holidays. So I don't have a regular episode coming out. Instead, what I've done is I've asked my daughters to join me to just talk a little bit about the holidays and kind of what we like to do and maybe what we're up to during this winter break. So first up, I have my older daughter, Katherine. Katherine. Hi mom. Thanks for being on my podcast. You're welcome. All right. Let's talk a little bit about Christmas. What kind of Christmas traditions do you like that we do? What we do on Christmas is, so we have an ornament tradition where every year we get an ornament on December 24th Describe a little bit more. It's basically like something that like you accomplished throughout the year or something that you like doing over the year, so my past four have been basketball related, but when I was five, it was like my first tooth came out. And then some of them are like first time riding a bike and stuff like that. So it's like an image of personalized. Yeah. Personalized. Yeah, I came up with that idea when you were a baby. I think because when dad and I got married, I didn't have any ornaments and I thought, well, it's kind of sad that I don't have like heirloom ornaments from when I was growing up. And so I thought maybe it would be nice for you to have your own set of ornaments, when you leave the house. Yeah. And it shows like memories of what year I rode a bike, you know, it's pretty crazy. And it seems like you guys get excited about when we unpack the ornaments, which are my ornaments and stuff. Okay. So those are the most fun. Those are the only ones I hang because I'm too busy, but I have to still hang my personalized ones. I'm still involved in the tradition in Christmas tree decorating. So that's the only gift we open on the 24th. Yeah. What are you looking forward to over break? Um, one, sleeping. Two, I'm really excited for San Diego. And for a basketball tournament going there with my team. Playing a lot of basketball. Yep, yep. That's basically all I'm doing over break, you know. Hanging out with all my friends. It's gonna be fun. It's gonna be fun. That's a lot of our winter breaks. Yeah, hanging out and basketball. Yep. Okay. That's Katherine. Thanks for joining me. Thanks. Bye. Bye. So now I'm joined by my daughter, Lucy. Hi, Lucy. Thanks for coming on. Hi. Thank you for having me. So we're talking a little bit about holiday traditions. What are some of your favorite traditions about Christmas? I think some of my favorite traditions about Christmas are being able to be with family and go to my grandparents and opening our stockings and having secret Santa with them. Those are like some of my favorites. You're one of the most, traditional people in our family, I think. Yeah. You're one of the ones who says, we've got to get the tree as early as possible, start playing Christmas music as early as possible. Yeah. Have everything up. Cause I just love Christmas. It's just my favorite time of the year. What is it about the traditions of Christmas that you love? What does it make you feel? I feel like the whole Christmas spirit and just like everything about Christmas I just love it. It's my favorite time. So, I want to just keep doing the same thing and keep, carrying on that, spirit that I felt, for the years past. Like, when you were a little girl? Yeah. What do you look forward to doing over the Christmas break? Um, not having to do homework. Not having school and just, hanging out with my friends and just, relaxing. All right. Well, thanks honey.
